What is Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the spirochete (Borrelia burgdorferi) which can also mimic and has been misdiagnosed as a wide range of other diseases including but not limited to CFS, Fibromyalgia, MS, depression, bipolar disorder, Alzheimer’s, and ALS. Lyme disease is a serious condition affecting multiple areas of the body with symptoms that vary from person to person.

Borrelia is a corkscrew-shaped bacterium referred to as a spirochete. Because of its unique shape and properties, this bacterium can bore itself into muscles, bones and even nervous system tissues and wreak havoc on its host (you and me).
